Review: Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream

Hello Princesses!

Today I'm going to be reviewing Maybelline's Dream Pure BB Cream!
Last Thursday I reviewed Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream which is Maybelline's BB Cream for dry skin. The Dream Pure BB Cream is Maybelline's answer for Oily skinned people! Let's see how this plays out ;)
I bought this BB Cream at my local Warehouse for $19.99, which is cheaper in comparison to the Dream Fresh BB Cream which was $24.99 at my local Farmers.

This BB Cream claims to;
  • Conceal imperfections
  • Protect against the appearance of blemishes
  • Oil free - non greasy
  • Minimise the appearance of pores
  • Clarifies the skin's look
  • Conceals redness
  • Hydrates and smoothes
  • Complements skin tone
Those are pretty big claims in my opinion. Lets see how the swatches fare!

This BB Cream is quite pale, but oxidises a little darker than the bottle colour. The tone looks quite neutral in the photos, but is more pink toned in real life. It's a little darker than my arm, but not by too much.

These photos show: my bare face - BB Cream only, BB Cream + Powder - BB Cream after 6 hours.
(Not great at looking straight, sorry, the last picture is a different colour because it was night time when I got home!)

The coverage is quite good! This is more like a "real" BB Cream in comparison to the Dream Fresh BB Cream. It conceals fairly well and also does a fair job of minimizing the appearances of pores. I have a bit of redness on my face (mostly around my chin and cheeks area) and it also does a good job of concealing the discolouration there too.

The texture is on the thinner side, but not nearly as watery as the Dream Fresh BB Cream. Personally I find the texture great because it's not thin enough to be too sheer, but not thick enough to look cakey. It's just right.

Oil Control
Pretty decent! For a BB Cream specifically made for people with oily skin it's not too disappointing, however it's not perfect. I needed some minor touch ups at the 5 hour mark, so you can see a little bit of shine in the 6 hour photo above.

It has a chemical smell, possibly because of the 2% Salicylic Acid. It's not too bad, but if you want to put your nose in it to smell it like I did, your going to smell the chemicals ><

Lasting Power
Good! The colour or effectiveness didn't wear off during the day, but there was a little bit of shine after 5 hours. I would still consider this successful though!

Things I Love
  Good coverage

Decent oil control and lasting power
Fairly Matte finish
Easy to apply

Things I don't Love
A little too dark/pink toned for me

Darkens slightly with time
Low SPF (only SPF15)
Chemical smell

Final Thoughts
This is definitely my favorite out of the Western BB Cream's that I've tried so far, and the only one that I will keep! Although it's a little dark for me during winter I think it would be fine during summer so I'm going to wait another couple of month to try it out again. It's a pity that it doesn't have a higher SPF number, because then it would be the perfect quick summer BB Cream! If you've got oily or acne prone skin I'd suggest giving this one a go!
Stumbled upon this review in search of comparisons between the Western BB Creams? Don't worry, I will be doing some full comparisons between the
Revlon BB Cream, Garniers Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream, and the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream next Thursday!

  1. Thanks for this review! I'm a bit iffy with American BB creams >.< I only have the Revlon PhotoReady BB cream and because it wasn't really a good one, I'm afraid to try other American ones, but your review made me want to try this one~ ^_^

    1. I liked this one even more than the Revlon one! If you wait a couple of days I'll do a comparison for you! ^^

  2. thank you for the review
the coverage seem really good !

    1. Your welcome! ^^ The coverage was surprisingly good!

  3. The coverage and matte finish looks amazing! I've been really interested in wanting to try out this bb cream! I think I should finish all my other creams first but it's currently on sale at Priceline ><"... decisions, decisions...

    1. Ooooh buy it, just in case you end up loving it! ;) (I'm a terrible influence!)

  4. I bought this recently too, and I also really like it~ it works well on my skin and it stays pretty matte for a long time, but I still like to use powder on my T-zone^^ x

    1. Hehe yeah I can almost never leave the house without powder on my T-zone! >< I'm glad you liked it too!

  5. I have never tried the western bb cream... by the way I am doing a giveaway with Lioeles BB cream!

Giveaway: Lioeles Triple the Solution BB Cream SPF30 PA++ 50ml

    1. You should give them a try! ;) You might end up loving them!

  6. The coverage looks good on you!

  7. Just got some samples of this, can't wait to try it ^.^

  8. 안녕하세요!!
I actually really like the Garnier Oil Free BB cream, I find the coverage just right and keeps my skin smooth and oil free, but……now that summer's over, the "light" BB cream is too dark for me - I was wondering if you found the Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream to be lighter, darker or the same as the Garnier one?
    Thanks!! :)

  9. I love this BB cream! :)

  10. Hey, I just finished my Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream and wrote a review for it on my blog. I've seen the product from your reviews around, but I can't find them at any store here. Do you notice any differences between the two product? Thanks xoxo

  11. Your goodbye photo with your peace sign is obviously photoshopped. Your face was blurry, you were wearing fake eyeliner and fake eyes.

    1. 10/10 observation skills love! ^ ^ My face has been airbrushed (acne probs in 2013) but my eye liner and eyeballs are totally real, I've just upped the contrast on them. I have no issues admitting I photoshop my "vanity" photos and have made tutorials on how I edit them already. Thanks for the comment! xx
