Fail or Holy Grail Review: Etude House Face Blur Primer

Hello Princesses!
Today I'm going to be talking about the Etude House Face Blur Primer! After a little research I found out that instead of buying the Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur Primer like I had intended, I actually bought the one without the Beauty Shot aspect. Sadly, this primer didn't work out for me for multiple reasons, but I still want to try out the Beauty Shot primer because I hear really good things about it!
This lightweight cream provides multi-blurring effects for instantly refined and smooth skin. Skin’s texture is smoothed; pores minimized and complexion brightened.

Water, butylene glycol, dicaprylate/dicaprate, dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, ethylhexylmethoxycinnamate, cyclohexasiloxane, butylene glycol, titanium dioxide (CI 77891), trisiloxane, niacinamide, lauryl, peg-9 polydimethylsiloxyethyl dimethicone, zinc oxide (CI 77947), disteardimonium hectorite, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, silica, vinyl dimethicone/methicone silsesquioxane crosspolymer, sodium chloride, peg-10 dimethicone/vinyl, dimethicone crosspolymer, aluminum hydroxide, stearic acid, polymethyl methacrylate, triethoxycaprylylsilane, disodium edta, adenosine, methicone, ethylhexylglycerin, mica (CI 77019), iron oxides (CI 77492), iron oxides (CI 77491), fragrance.
This primer comes housed in a pretty bottle with a pump top. It disperses the product easily and has a cap for storage.
The primer itself is a light pinky beige colour and is very scented. I find the smell really unpleasant, it smells like the sanitizer they use on buses which reminds me of all the times I've been bus sick. I find that the scent lingers for quite a long time too which makes me feel sick.
I find this primer easy to apply, it doesn't take much to blend into my skin. It does give quite a strong "tone up" or brightening effect which I don't necessarily need.
However, for a primer that is labelled Face Blur, I don't find that it blurred my pores in any way. My skin didn't look or feel smoother, my pores weren't minimized either. It does brighten my skin as the product description claims, but this isn't the aspect that I bought it for, to be fair it gives the same tone up and brightening effect that a sunscreen with a white cast gives, and I'd rather the extra sun protection than the primer that I think smells awful.
I can't really see a difference between the primed side (photo right) and the un primed side (photo left) when I have foundation on. I can't even see the tone up or brightening effect, but I can still smell it unfortunately!

What I Love
- Pretty, functional packaging
- Easy to apply
- Strong "tone up" or brightening effect

What I Don't Love
- Awful, strong scent
- Doesn't blur my face
- No smoothing effect, or pore minimizing effect
- Strong "tone up" or brightening effect

Final Thoughts
The Etude House Face Blur Primer is a fail for me because it only provides a tone up or brightening effect that I could achieve by using a sunscreen with a white cast. I also really hate the smell, it makes me feel quite ill, but that's a personal gripe rather than a fault with the product. I hear really good things about the Beauty Shot Face Blur Primer which really is what I intended to purchase and I think I will still try it, but the regular Face Blur Primer is a flop for me.

I would recommend the Etude House Face Blur Primer to any Princesses looking for a primer that has a tone up or brightening effect.

  1. Thanks for the warning. Overperfuming, I can't even.. When it was launched I was super close to buying it, fullsize of course cause there were no samples.. thankfully I passed. At least their Face Conditioning Cream Light is nice on my oily skin, still I'm usually too blah to use primers. >.<
